A lovely garden, delicious meals, and a large private bath made this feel well worth the price. The hotel is perfectly placed in the historic district, and I had a wonderful stay.

The private bath is simple, quiet, and relaxing, and breakfast was better than dinner. But for the price, the food's quantity and quality weren't good enough, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel. Dinner started with a delicate, special first half, then became very ordinary once the shabu shabu arrived. The rice wasn't especially good, and I left the table still a little hungry for the first time. I also disliked being hurried through dinner and told to eat before I could finish and enjoy each dish. Canned orange juice wasn't a great start to breakfast either. The hotel itself is beautiful, but it's too expensive compared with many other ryokans around Japan.

We had one of the best meals of our trip at dinner, and our room was spacious and clean. The ryokan sits beside a canal in the historic district, with lovely views and a convenient spot for exploring.

The Kaiseki dinners were excellent, and so was the Japanese breakfast I chose. Rooms were comfortable, and the service was great. Set on the main street beside the river, the place has a beautiful setting and captures what I like about a traditional ryokan. You can reserve the Onsen for private use, which worked well for me as a traveler with tattoos. If I'm back in the Kurashiki area, I'll definitely stay at Ryokan Kurashiki again.

You're really well looked after here. The staff were kind and helpful, and the amenities were spotless. Every meal was cooked just right and packed with flavor. It's expensive, but the service and quality were unmatched for me. The historic district location is perfect too. I highly, highly recommend it.
