toutou, Kurashiki Onzaki Nikai no Yado

Rie Fast and her team made our stay at Toutou memorable, and the value for money was very good. Fast-san was extremely service-oriented: she emailed ahead to prepare for our arrival, gave us all the information we needed, and booked dinner tables at two restaurants she recommended. On departure day, the staff carried our luggage down to the taxi Fast-san had already booked, which I really appreciated because of my weak knees. We hadn’t expected a traditional hotel, but the service surprised us. To us it was comparable to a five-star home. The room was spacious, new, clean, thoughtfully decorated, and cozy, with a tiny cupboard-style kitchen that still had everything we needed. It was comfortable for sitting, sleeping, talking, eating, and showering. The bread, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, and jam were fresh and tasty. I liked the drip coffee so much that I bought three packs from their shop. The mattress, pillows, and duvets were also very comfortable, with a firm mattress that still supported our backs. Even the small rooftop area was nice to enjoy. The only thing I had to be careful about was the steep stairs up to the room and roof balcony. My knees are quite weak, and we’re not used to the steep stairs common in Japanese buildings. After nearly 50 years of travel, I rarely leave with nothing to complain about, but I had no complaints about Toutou. Many thanks to Rie Fast and the team.

A stylish apartment with lovely attention to detail. Breakfast was provided too, with delicious strawberries and toast, plus fresh coffee. I’d recommend staying here.

The lighting, furniture, and tableware were full of thoughtful details, and the local crafts and design were beautifully presented. My first visit to Kurashiki and stay at tou tou felt comfortable and special, with a delicious breakfast and a room even lovelier than the photos. It was already dark when I arrived and I got a little lost, but a kind taxi driver helped me find my way and I checked in without trouble. My flight had been delayed, yet the staff welcomed me warmly. I’m grateful I found such a lovely inn with such kind people, and I’d definitely like to come back.
