おとまち 甘藍 Otomachi Kanran

The rooms had a traditional style, which made for an interesting stay, and the whole place felt homey. I was especially happy there were cats, and the owner was very kind and hospitable. The train station is about a 12-minute walk away, which made it easy to visit miyajima and bunny island without taking the shinkansen. I really enjoyed my time there.

Our cycling trip from Onomichi to Hiro got interrupted by heavy rain, but Rina-san welcomed us warmly at the hostel and handed us towels. She made curry soup for us that night, and it was delicious. Such a great atmosphere and a lovely host. Rina-san is outgoing and enjoys chatting with guests. I'd absolutely recommend stopping here.

The guesthouse bar is open to the public and plays jazzy music in the evening. There's a good range of craft beers and soft drinks, plus little snacks. It can be a bit loud until around 22:00, though joining in is great fun. We were welcomed by the lovely host, Rina (Rina), and stayed just after the first anniversary of Otomachi Kanran (Otomachi Kanran). The place has a cosy, come-home-to feel after a day out. Its decor mixes traditional Japanese touches with DIY furniture. Bedding and towels are provided, the facilities are well kept, and there's laundry available, which is handy on a longer trip. Guests can also use the fully stocked kitchen, with a fridge, stove, and microwave. Kure (Kure) makes a handy start or finish for Tobishima Kaido (Tobishima Kaido) or Sazanami Kaido (Sazanami Kaido), and you can store your bike there. Hiroshima city is about 45 minutes away by train.
