Hotel Shibataya

Not many rooms are available, but the facilities are good.

Internet connectivity was bad. This is a business hotel, and they serve a Japanese style breakfast.

The staff were kind, and the place was very clean.

I used it as a place to stay during a motorcycle trip on September 19, 2025. I picked it because it looked like the closest hotel on the map to the motorcycle event at Jidazato Hanayama Roadside Station. It's in central Kurihara City, with a convenience store nearby, so the location worked out well. The owner seemed to run the hotel alone. I booked through Rakuten Travel, prepaid, and gave my name and address, though I still had to fill in the guest register. Since I had booked a room only, I bought rice balls and other food at a convenience store before checking in. They also sold instant noodles at the front desk, but those cost a little more than at a convenience store (^_^). I had expected a traditional inn from the name, but it's a business hotel. You take off your shoes at the front desk and wear slippers around the building. My room was at the back on the second floor. There wasn't a large public bath, just a unit bath with a toilet and separate bath. There was only one packet of powdered green tea in the room. I wanted another cup, so I asked at the front desk and was given three packets. It'd be nice if they kept around three there. I used the coin laundry after exchanging money at the front desk, and there was also a drink vending machine nearby. The hotel has a collection of paintings and kokeshi dolls, possibly the owner's hobby. It seems like it was a charming inn before the renovation.
