The onsen was fairly basic, but pleasant to use before bed and again in the morning. I stayed one night last December, my second time at a ryokan, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is excellent, right beside Sainokawara Park. I got a warm welcome, and the room was fantastic, spacious, and had everything I needed. I highly recommend choosing the dinner and breakfast package like at other ryokans. The food was excellent and varied, and I enjoyed dishes I wouldn’t have picked myself. The server was very kind and spoke French, so I could exchange a few words with him since I’m French.

Those two nights were the most memorable part of my two-week trip to Japan. I wish I’d stayed longer. The staff were polite and helpful, and I liked the hotel onsen, though larger tattoos aren’t allowed there unless you use the private onsen. I hadn’t reserved dinner, but breakfast was delicious, and the lobby coffee was free and great.

The staff paid close attention to the details and made us feel welcome, with truly incredible hospitality. Our room was spacious and well kept, and the onsen facilities were excellent and relaxing. A wonderful stay at this historic gem!

The public onsen is free, and the private one costs a little extra at a very reasonable price. The hotel is traditional, clean, and lovely, with kind, attentive staff. Some were even able to speak a few words of Thai, which was really cute! It’s conveniently placed near Kusatsu’s main attractions, and many sightseeing spots are easy to reach on foot. Highly recommended! 💖

A little farther from the center of this small onsen town, which gives the place a quieter feel. The hotel is beautifully designed, with lots of thoughtful details. Guests can use its onsens and an outdoor footbath.
