The walls and windows are so thin that the place is noisy. I could hear the train and people coughing a few rooms away. Also, I found hair in the food and made a video of it. I’m bald, so it wasn’t mine. I ate breakfast after staying here last night, then had violent diarrhea later in the day. It was horrendous. I fast every day from 6 p.m. and ate nothing afterward, so I’m sure it came from this place. Don’t eat their breakfast unless you want to get sick.

The hotel is close to restaurants and the train station, so it’s a handy starting point for Kyoto or places around Lake Biwa. The room was comfortable enough, though it doesn’t quite measure up to some similar hotels I’ve used. The bed was nice and had a built-in reading light, but the TV was small, there was very little closet or hanger space, and the AC settings were just “Lo,” “med,” and “hi.” As far as I could tell, breakfast wasn’t free, just a paid buffet.

Very clean, comfortable beds, and a great location. The station is a five-minute walk, there’s a fantastic park just minutes away, and there’s a nearby shopping center and some wonderful restaurants. The staff were polite and helpful, and they spoke English.

I’ve stayed at Urban hotel Kusatsu twice, once in November 2016 and again in December 2018. The rooms were clean, and the Japanese breakfast had lots of tasty choices. The staff were kind and super helpful.
