Resort Ohshima

The camping spots are a good size, the grass is in pretty good shape, and the facilities are clean with hot water. There’s also an ofuro at the campsite. The staff were kind. We stayed three nights, and I want to say thanks for a well-kept place.

We stayed in a cabin in mid-December on a weekday, when there were few people around, so we could relax and almost had the place to ourselves. The stars at night were beautiful, and the staff were all very kind. Our stay was comfortable. The open-air bath looks out over the ocean, and simply taking in the view from the water felt soothing. The cabin was spotless, as were the toilets and bathrooms, so I felt it would be a safe choice even for people not used to camping. Kushimoto is beautiful and has great weather. I want to come back every year.

I used the campsite on a motorcycle tour and could ride right up to my site. The gravel road was no problem, even all the way to the back. The receptionist was kind and cute, which made a good impression. On 2026.4.19, a solo camping stay cost 2000 yen, with unlimited use of the spectacular open-air bath available for an additional charge. There’s a place to dispose of trash, and the toilets are clean. The lodges also look good for family camping. I’ve visited lots of places on motorcycle tours, but this is such a high-quality campsite I almost don’t want to tell anyone about it. It was relaxing even though I was camping. Thank you.

The spacious sites were comfortable, though families often use the campground and we heard children playing quite a bit. All the toilets are heated, but only some have washlets, so it’s a matter of luck whether one is available. Some washing areas have hot water too. We came in early December. The daytime was warm, while the nighttime low was around 5°C, which seemed about right for the forecast at an elevation of roughly 50 meters. The campground sits at Honshu’s southernmost tip with a spectacular Pacific view, but tents get that view only from the “observation site,” or from the bungalows behind it. There are only a few observation sites, so you need to reserve one. The open-air bath overlooks the Pacific and is available anytime for 600 yen per person, which makes it easy to use when it suits you. It can hold about 10 people.
