The owner was lovely, but sound carried through the closed door and even my earplugs. Although the room was non-smoking, it smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke, even after I aired it out for several hours.

The owner was especially thoughtful, and the place had good Wi-Fi, English signs, and a washer and dryer. It's an older building, but kept up well enough to be comfortable. You can hear footsteps and other sounds clearly, though that's just how it is. Dinner's easy, with several good restaurants nearby. For 4,000 yen, the room-only rate came with breakfast as a service. The private room included bath and face towels, pajamas, and amenities. The toilet was very clean and seemed new, with a washlet. They also let us bring our bicycles inside the entrance, which helped since it was raining. I called in January 2019 to see about returning, but was told it had closed. What a shame.

The landlady was friendly, and that helped make my stay comfortable despite the old building. I was glad the shared bathroom was so clean, and it even had a washlet. My room's TV only got one channel, but there were stacks of manga and other books at the end of the second-floor hallway to keep me occupied. Just be aware that payment is cash only.
