Minshuku Oe

Great seafood, and the onsen is open 24 hours.

This was a very important family trip for me, since it was our first in a long time. I'm grateful we had a place where we could enjoy ourselves and unwind. The crab dishes were amazing in both flavor and portion size, and the bath was clean and open all day and night. I had pictured a more homey atmosphere because the minshuku was so highly rated, though. I also felt hurried around the timing of the crab hotpot, which made it harder to enjoy the meal. The LINE coupon could be used after registering, but when we mentioned it at checkout, we were firmly told, with a sigh, that it had to be done at check-in. A note or reminder would have helped. If you're planning to register for LINE, doing it beforehand may save you and the landlady an awkward moment.

The crab was incredibly tasty, and the retro, comfortable atmosphere reminded me of my grandma's house. The bath was clean and the water felt high quality, and there was even a vending machine for freshly brewed coffee. I felt rushed when it was time to move on to the crab hotpot. It might work better to have it ready from the start and let guests eat it whenever they want. That would make things easier for the inn too. The LINE registration discount also wasn't explained, either verbally at checkout or with a notice in the room. When I brought it up while paying, I was told changing the bill would mean booking it again if it hadn't been mentioned at the beginning. Since nobody had explained it, I only raised it later and caused a hassle. A heads-up from the start would've been better for everyone. PS: As the photo shows, the discount isn't written anywhere. You only learn about it by adding them as a friend and checking what's inside.

The rooms feel like an ordinary guesthouse, and while the baths look unremarkable, the water is really good and leaves your skin feeling slippery. The sea at Kotohikihama is beautiful whether the crabs are singing or not. The crabs themselves are amazing. I love crab sashimi and crab vinegar, and I also need to take home boiled crab for my grandfather, who can't make the trip this far.
