Yusai Resort HIBIKI

I had to reschedule because snow kept us from getting there on our booked day, and the inn was happy to accommodate the change. We were lucky to have good weather on the new date. I'd been curious about Yuhigaura Onsen and was looking for somewhere to enjoy crab dishes. The reviews had me excited, and it really was a quiet, relaxing place with an adult feel. My first-floor room was clean, comfortable, and modern Japanese in style, with a lovely ocean view and a relaxing stone bath. Yuhigaura Beach is just a short walk away, handy for a stroll even though sightseeing wasn't my main reason for coming. The portions were just right for me, and the quality left me very satisfied. Big eaters might find them a little modest. I'd recommend this inn if you're after a peaceful stay. Thank you for taking care of us.

The rooms do have ocean views and are barrier-free, but they felt small. There's no large shared bath, and the in-room open-air bath isn't fed by a natural flow. The service came across as superficial and unpolished, and the food was quite ordinary. For what the rooms and meals were like, the price didn't feel justified, so I don't think we'll return. We tried the inn after seeing such good reviews. It passes muster if you know other good inns, but I found it average.

The staff were attentive while still respecting our privacy, and their service felt experienced. I was able to relax without worrying about anything. My second-floor room was fully barrier-free and thoughtfully designed, with an elevator. The window view was lovely, the indoor bath was a comfortable temperature, and the hairdryer was a ReFa. I came hoping to watch the sunset over the sea, and the inn had a quiet, mature atmosphere from check-in. Dinner was all seafood. I had the large abalone both as sashimi and butter-grilled, which was a good way to enjoy it two ways. They brought rice balls for a late-night snack. The decorative cuts on the dishes were wonderful, and the tableware, which they said was Arita ware, was gorgeous to look at. The dining room was private; I could hear staff serving nearby rooms but not any personal conversations. Even the overnight-dried flounder at breakfast had been cut so it was easy to eat. It feels like a tucked-away retreat for adults where you can really unwind.

The setting is wonderful, and watching the sunset feels soothing no matter what life has brought you. It made for a trip I won't forget.
