Denshin An

The care Yu and the staff showed us was so genuine. They were kind and attentive from the moment we arrived, and we enjoyed every minute here. I wish we'd had more time. Garden Villa Denshin An is serene, with thoughtful design and attention to detail throughout. I'd definitely suggest trying both dinner and the japanese breakfast at least once.

The gardens are beautiful, and the old traditional home feels peaceful and very well cared for. We spent two nights downtown and two on the west side at Denshin-An, which worked perfectly for our first visit since we could focus on things in each area. This isn't in the main downtown area, but it's quieter and cuter, and now I could happily stay on the west side for a whole return trip to Kyoto. We'll stay here again if we come back.

The owner was so hospitable and accommodating, and the service was the best I've had at any hotel in Japan these days. The property is beautiful and very well maintained, with a big gorgeous garden. In autumn, you wake up to a lovely view of red leaves. It has everything we needed for a good vacation, even a well-equipped kitchen. Highly recommended, I can't say enough about this place!

Mr Yu was so welcoming, and brought us a delicious Japanese-style breakfast for a reasonable charge. We only stayed one night, which wasn't nearly enough, and we already miss Denshin-An villa. This gorgeous 110-year-old traditional Japanese-style house has modern comforts like underfloor heating, aircon, and a self-heating bath. The simple design is beautiful, with lovely details all through the property. The moss-covered garden is stunning. Having tea by the window looking out at it was so peaceful and relaxing. It was our first time sleeping on futons, and they were really comfy.
