The private onsen was a splurge for us, but absolutely worth it. Our room was spacious and clean, and Yuto at the front desk, who also manages the place, felt like a friend from the States: warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. This was one of the best parts of my recent Japan trip and the only place we stayed while visiting Kyoto. I suppose the secret is out about this boutique hotel gem?!

The photos really don't do Galley Hotel Kaguya justice. The room was beautiful and clean, and the private bath was spotless too. The manager was welcoming and very polite, made sure we had everything we needed, and was always around for questions or suggestions for places to eat and things to do nearby. It exceeded what I expected. I'd stay again any time I'm in Kyoto, and highly recommend it.

We stayed four days in May 2024 and wished we could have stayed longer. The room felt private, was clean, and had wonderfully soft, comfortable beds. The owner was thoughtful and very friendly. The location is handy too: a Family Mart is on one corner, Comfy matcha shop is on the other, and Nishiki Market, the shopping area, restaurants, and Pontocho are all a pleasant walk away. I definitely want to stay here again next time I'm in Kyoto.

We booked the fourth and fifth floors, with a double bedroom and private bath. The owner and manager was friendly and helpful. The bath was a treat after long days of walking, and felt very reasonably priced for the quality of the accommodation. We struggled a little with the controls at first, but got help and enjoyed using it every day. The location is peaceful, set back from the shops but still an easy walk to Nishiki market. There are also a few good restaurants just a couple blocks away, including a great sukiyaki place on the corner.
