We were a family of three in the Deluxe Queen with Private Sauna room, and there was plenty of space. It had a queen bed, a twin bed, a small couch, a desk, and a patio facing the street. The sauna in the room was a real highlight and gave the stay a distinctive Japanese feel. The hotel felt new, modern, and very clean. Free laundry with detergent, lobby amenities, and complimentary coffee from the espresso machine were all handy. We liked being on a quieter street, even though the main tourist spots were about a 15-minute walk away. Great value, and I’d happily recommend it.

We spent early mornings sightseeing and were glad to come back to the complimentary lobby coffee machine, which had several drinks besides coffee. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and the location made it easy to get around. Our room at Gion Elite Terrace felt bright, airy, and relaxing. The bed was huge and comfortable, and the bathroom had a lovely separate bath and shower. I liked the small details, like the subtle hooks for coats and bags and the lit ring mirror at the dressing table. There was a little kitchenette too, plus a balcony that was nice for unwinding. I honestly couldn’t find anything to fault. A perfect stay, and I’d definitely choose Gion Elite Terrace again if I come back to Kyoto.

I liked Gion Elite Terrace enough that I cancelled check-in at another hotel to add a night here. We had the superior king with sauna, and it was worth the money. The room was roomy and comfortable, with a sunken bath and sauna for my own little spa routine. It also had a good-sized closet, a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, fridge, and induction burner, and a small desk with a vanity mirror. From the sitting area, I could look out over the little terrace and its greenery. The front desk staff were really helpful and spoke English. There was a free coffee machine with lattes and matcha lattes, plus room amenities like cotton pads and shavers. The location was the best part: about four blocks from the main road and entrance toward Yasaka Pagoda, with easy bus access to Fushimi Inari and Gion. I’d stay again, 10/10.

A lovely find in the middle of Kyoto’s Gion quarter. Some rooms have soaking tubs and saunas as well as a regular shower area. There are at least three of these rooms on the main floor, and you can ask the hotel directly or book through Expedia to request one. Ours was large, with a kitchenette and a small terrace. Kyoto Kawaramachi Station is a 15-minute walk across the river, and Yasaka Pagoda and Yasaka Shrine are nearby. From Koto Station, bus # 206 gets you here if you get off at Higashiyama Yasui, stop number 9 from Kyoto Station. At Kyoto Station, use the D2 platform for that bus. There are vegan options in the area too.

Although it’s in a busy part of Kyoto, the hotel sits on a small, quiet side street. You can walk to lots of attractions, transit, restaurants, and bars. The place is small enough to feel cozy, but has plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We had a balcony and loved having our morning coffee out there each day. I’d recommend it to all kinds of travelers.
