Yumi and Chie made our stay feel genuinely warm and hospitable, and the service was impeccable. We stayed at Gion Kyoka in Kyoto in late January 2026 and loved it. Room 202 was especially nice, with a spacious tatami area, a horigotatsu-style dining table, and a full hinoki bath. Right in historic Gion, it’s steps from Tatsumi Bridge and Yasaka Shrine, with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were sad to leave.

We had plenty of room for our family of four, and the beds were really comfortable. This quaint ryokan is right in the heart of Gion, with a superb location. The staff were amazing, and we loved the accommodations. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it. Only gripe is we couldn’t stay longer! 🙂🙂

Yumi was so hospitable, and the suite was large with comfortable amenities. The room and beds were just right. Great location, and a really cool vibe.

The location made it easy to walk everywhere, and the staff were friendly. Our room was spacious too. Gion Kyoka really felt like a home away from home.

Coming back here in the evening to unwind was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the bath was high quality, and the atmosphere was calming. We stayed six nights, starting April 18, 2025, and were very happy with the room we booked. Everyone we met, from the managers to the front desk, was kind and helpful. It was the best hospitality we had on our whole Japan trip, so thanks to all the staff for being so thoughtful and polite. Kyoto was amazing, and I’ll be back next time. I’d like to try the dining options then. Thanks again for such a lovely stay! 😊😁🙏🏻
