Gion Oyado Kikutani

The Japanese-style pajamas were among the coziest I've ever worn, and the breakfast was really nice. At Kikutani, we got the Ryoken-style stay we wanted, with a mattress instead of floor mats. Our room was super cozy, with an onsen tub, and the staff were friendly. The location was convenient in the Gion geisha area. We loved our stay!

This was my second visit to this lovely family-run inn. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are always quiet. They've been cool when I've visited in summer and cozy in winter. Like the previous reviewer, I think the cotton pajamas, called samue, are a highlight.

The rice and miso soup here were our favorites from all the time we've spent travelling around Japan. We stayed two nights at Gion Oyado Kikutani and had a wonderful time. The place was clean and well kept, and our room was lovely, especially the bathroom with its hinoki bathtub. The pillows, duvets, and pajamas were so soft and comfortable that we're still thinking about asking where they're from. I'd love to have them at home. There are only a few rooms, on a quiet street in the old quarter, making it a great base for exploring nearby areas. The staff were cheerful and very helpful. I'd love to return with my family.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the garden, and the private onsen was wonderfully relaxing. The traditional breakfast was a nice experience, and the pajamas were soft and cool. We'd definitely recommend it.
