Oil Street Guest House and Space

Yasu is a lovely, kind host who recommended interesting things to do around Kyoto beyond the usual temples and shrines. The guesthouse is a beautiful traditional Japanese house, just a five-minute walk from Imadegawa Station. I’ve stayed twice already, and I’d definitely choose it again if I visit Kyoto in the future.

Yasu knows so much and is always helpful, and Burrito, the canine innkeeper, is the sweetest. The house itself is beautiful and spacious. My boyfriend and I would absolutely stay here again if we come back to Kyoto.

I chose this place for an authentic Japanese machiya stay at an affordable price, especially for a small family or a group of friends. The private bathroom was very modern and comfortable. It’s on a tiny, quiet residential street, and the host speaks very good English. The coffee machine was really nice and essential for a winter traveler like me.

A cozy, welcoming guesthouse with just two rooms in a peaceful neighborhood. You sleep on a mat in a private wooden room, so it has a very traditional feel. Yasu, the owner, was kind and made sure we had what we needed, including a balanced breakfast. We recommend the nearby onsen, just remember to leave your swimsuits behind!
