The room felt like a dorm rather than a hotel, and at this price I found it disappointing. It was extremely small, with barely enough room to open a suitcase, and the bed was pushed against the wall. There was only one power outlet, which was inconvenient for two people. The hotel offered few services: no restaurant, breakfast, coffee, or drinks. The bathroom was awkwardly laid out, as if it had been added later, with a small step that didn’t feel safe. There was no trash bin, and there wasn’t room to put toiletries in the shower. Even the shampoo was by the sink. The whole stay felt quite uncomfortable. The location is definitely its strongest point, with easy access to restaurants, shops, public transportation, and major attractions. For exploring Kyoto, this area makes getting around very convenient. For me, though, the place works only as somewhere basic to sleep before heading out early.

There’s lots to do around this part of Kyoto, with shopping, great food, a huge arcade, and fun nightlife. The room was a fair size for Japan, coming from Canada. Just be aware that if you book a double room for more than two people, you’ll need to upgrade. Our 8 year old son counted as another adult, so I should have booked for three adults instead of two, and we had an extra charge. It wasn’t a big deal, but worth keeping in mind if you’re traveling with kids.

The only real problem for me was the lack of a blackout curtain. Morning light came in early, and when I got sick during my stay, I needed extra rest but found it hard to sleep. I strongly recommend adding blackout curtains. Otherwise, I was very happy here. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always smiling, and their hospitality made a real difference. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with more than enough complimentary amenities. It’s close to bus stops and not far from the train station, so getting around Kyoto is easy. The price was surprisingly affordable for what you get, and I felt I got great value. I’d definitely recommend it for the location, price, and wonderful staff. Thanks for a great stay.

I arrived expecting the room I’d prepaid for and had received confirmation for. Instead, staff asked me to wait 30 minutes, then told me there was no room available. They made excuses and shifted blame instead of taking responsibility. I was moved to a remote hotel, which threw off my travel plans and wasted a lot of time. Poor management, communication, and customer service. I can’t recommend this place.

I spent three nights at Hotel Gran Ms Kyoto in September. It was clean, convenient, and well located, with the subway close by, a bus stop nearby, and a 7-Eleven right next door. The rooms and washrooms were clean and comfortable. Amenities are placed near the elevators so you can take what you need, which is practical and eco-friendly. My room had a sealed window that couldn’t be opened for fresh air. Since the hotel is near the main road, there was a little noise sometimes, though it wasn’t too disturbing. It’s a good Kyoto option if you value accessibility and comfort, but keep the window and noise in mind if you’re a light sleeper.
