Green Gables

Masami made my Kyoto stay wonderful. He kept in touch throughout, and his knowledge of good music, along with his recommendations, was great 🐱

This seems to be an older apartment building where the owner rents out extra rooms for short stays. It's inexpensive and decent value, though probably not the place for anyone expecting a proper hotel experience. Imamiya Shrine and Bukkyo University are nearby, and you can walk to izakayas. The residential area in Kita Ward, Kyoto City isn't inconvenient if you're driving, say in a rental car. A reasonable pick if keeping costs down is your priority.

The room had what I needed for one night, and having a kettle and microwave was handy. It was fun staying in what felt like an ordinary apartment (lol). But the mattress was moldy and the floor dusty. It's a smoking room, so skip it if you can't tolerate cigarette smells.

Getting around was easy with several city bus routes, and there was a drugstore and convenience store nearby, so I had everything I needed. It was a studio apartment, and the coin laundry was free.
