Higashiyama Shikikaboku

The staff made our first visit to Kyoto especially warm and memorable. Thank you to everyone, particularly Nana and the young gentlemen who helped with check-in and dessert recommendations. Their care was thoughtful, gracious, and professional, and the glowing reviews still don’t quite convey how special their hospitality is. Shikikaboku is a peaceful, intimate boutique hotel with only a handful of rooms. It’s clean, convenient, and well designed, with comfortable beds and a quiet atmosphere. This stay has set a very high standard for future hotels.

We loved our stay, and the in-room massages are well worth considering. The location is great, within walking distance of stations, shops, restaurants, and good coffee spots. Our rooms were spacious, with large, comfortable beds, and every staff member went above and beyond. This was our favorite stay in Japan. Thank you!

The staff were generous and helpful, even sending us out with umbrellas and water and arranging to have our suitcases sent to Tokyo while we took a bike trip south. We also loved the open-air bath, which had extra towels, skincare products, hair dryers, water bottles, and other amenities. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious rooms, great facilities, and excellent hospitality and service. Higashiyama station is a two-minute walk away, and it’s a short walk to boutiques and excellent restaurants. The river and Sanjo Keihan line are about ten minutes away on foot. We’d absolutely stay again.

The location is a little away from the action, which made it quiet, and having a subway stop just a minute away worked fine for us. The accommodations were comfortable, and the staff were just as wonderful. They made us feel almost like we were staying with family who were looking after us. It was hard to leave, and I can’t recommend the Higashiyama high enough.
