Hostel Ebi

Hotel Ebi was our favorite hostel in Japan. It's in a really convenient spot, close to almost everything, and the owner is a great person to ask about places to eat or see. We found it clean and homey, and the host was so welcoming. I'd definitely recommend it if you're visiting Kyoto.

Right by the market, with plenty of good places to eat nearby, plus a 7eleven. The subway and trams are close, and you can walk to lots of fun spots. There's also a bike rental shop nearby. The hostel itself is modern and stylish, but still comfortable, and all the facilities were great, especially the showers. Gi made us feel very welcome. Thanks for having us! Topaz and Rory

Nishiki market is just down the street, and we ended up visiting every day haha. We had a private room for four with two double-decker beds. The bathroom was shared, but we never waited long to shower. Jiwon, if I have the right person, gave us a genuinely helpful recommendation for yakitori, and it was delicious!!!! Check-in and check-out were both easy. There's an elevator, so you don't have to lug your bags up stairs.

The owner, Jiwon, took us to a local bar and restaurant with some other guests on the night we arrived. That was one of the best parts of our trip. The hostel is right beside Nishiki Market, which is a really convenient location. The beds are much bigger than ones we've had in other capsule hotels, and everything was very clean. They also had two secure spots for keeping personal belongings.
