A lovely, quiet spot to rest. The room was spotless and the service was very good.

The staff were helpful and let us check in early. Our room was much more spacious than rooms we've had elsewhere in Japan. Most major attractions are a 10-15 minute walk away, so it's not right in the center, but walking the streets is part of appreciating Kyoto's beauty.

The room on the fifth floor was bright, clean, and comfortable, and I especially liked the view through its big window. Hotel Matsutakeun has a peaceful feel, with modern design and Japanese-style furnishings. Many sights are walkable, and there's a train station very close by. The room could get warm because the window wouldn't open. The air conditioning then felt too cold and was hard to adjust. Even so, we had a very pleasant stay.
