Hotel Meldia Kyoto Shijo Omiya

The beds were the most uncomfortable spring beds we slept on during the trip. There weren't many facilities, and the hotel doesn't provide luggage shipping.

The rooms are roomy, with huge, pretty comfortable beds, and the price was decent as long as you don't need a nice view. Getting around is easy too, with buses and trains well connected nearby. The staff were really kind, like people we'd met almost everywhere in Japan.

The room here felt about the size of a European one, which was a nice surprise given that hotel rooms in Japan are generally smaller than in Western or Middle Eastern hotels. It was quiet and clean, and the bathroom had what we needed, including toiletries, towels, slippers, and PJs. The staff were super friendly, though for complicated requests you may need Google Translate. Breakfast is available, but I thought it was just so-so. I really liked this Meldia Hotels location. It's in a quiet area, about a five-minute walk from several bus stops that connect to the places visitors will want to see in Kyoto. I'd happily recommend Meldia Hotels for short or long stays, whether for vacation or business. They have the amenities you need, many locations, and great staff.

We stayed in a triple room, and it was extremely clean and quiet. When we had trouble with our credit card, the manager and staff were very helpful and enthusiastically called the overseas card centre with us. They also serve free congee and coffee for breakfast. This was the best hotel of our 20-day trip around Honshu. It was conveniently located, with restaurants and cafes nearby, and very good value for the price. We'd recommend it to friends visiting Kyoto.
