Hotel Ponto

The location and relaxed style are still big draws for me, and I really enjoy walking by the river before coming back to the hotel. I’ve stayed at THE GATE HOTEL Kyoto Takasegawa before, and the atmosphere remains lovely. I came back partly because my last visit felt so spotless and well looked after. This time, though, the room seemed less fresh, and a few small things made me feel the cleaning had slipped. It wasn’t awful, but I noticed the difference. I still like staying here and hope the cleanliness returns to the standard I remember.

The breakfast had plenty of tasty choices, and we found the rooms cozy. The pillows were especially nice for sleeping on my stomach, which I don’t often find in hotels. The streets outside can be lively, but we didn’t hear much noise inside, and there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The shampoo and conditioner had a strong lavender scent that I found off-putting, especially if you’re sensitive to fragrances. It wasn’t a major problem since I usually bring my own products. Service was good, and we had a great stay.

We especially enjoyed unwinding in the lounge, where the complimentary drinks were a lovely touch. Minami looked after us warmly and attentively there. The room was spacious and comfortable, with thoughtful design and lovely views. The hotel also has a great location and an elegant, calm atmosphere throughout. A beautiful stay from beginning to end. We can’t wait to come back!

The lounge drinks were just right for relaxing after a long day on foot, and breakfast was amazing. We also had a great time checking out the retreat room, definitely a memorable experience. From check-in to checkout, everything went smoothly. The staff were helpful and attentive, our room was wonderful, and the location was very convenient. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.
