Hotel SaintFelician Kyoto Shijo Karasuma

It felt like coming back to my own apartment every night in Japan. The rooms were clean, well equipped, peaceful for sleeping, and affordable, with a good location and quality amenities. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and this hotel became a big part of a trip I thoroughly enjoyed. I’d choose it over bigger luxury hotels even if I won the lottery tomorrow. I almost want to keep it to myself, but they deserve all the compliments and publicity. I wish I could win free rooms here for life. Really nice.

The location is very central, with two trains nearby and nashiki market just five minutes away. For the price, it’s great value. Rooms are quite large by Japanese standards, and having a small kitchen and dining area is a nice bonus.

It’s not too bad for the price, but there’s a semi-basement floor they call the ground floor. Hopefully you don’t end up in one of those humid rooms.

The front desk person wearing glasses was so polite and kind that they came outside the shop to ask if we needed anything while my girlfriend and I were trying to find the shortest route to the station. Our room was clean and big enough for both of us, and having a washing machine right in the room was a bonus. I guess you can’t find a room like this just anywhere.
