I was unhappy with this stay and don’t think the 4+ Google review score is deserved. I booked here only because my first two choices were full. For $170, this was a poor deal. The previous day I paid $180 for Courtyard in Osaka, and I’ve stayed at APA too, which did a better job despite not being a Marriot or Hilton. The bed was the worst I’ve had in Japan, hard like a floor. The room size was acceptable, but there was no sofa, just a tiny table and two wooden chairs. I’d accidentally booked for one guest instead of two, and the employees kept asking me to pay the extra amount whenever they saw me. I understood the mistake was mine and planned to pay at checkout, so the repeated “can you pay now” requests were frustrating. Checkout is at 10am, and they charge extra if you want to stay longer. I should have taken that as a warning. There are better options nearby for the same money. Avoid if you can.

Our favorite convenience was the 7-11 downstairs. It got busy around 8:00-9:00P, but we could still pop in and out quickly for evening snacks or breakfast for the next day. The other big plus is the short walk to Kyoto Station. We liked the comfortable, unisex one-size-fits-all pajamas, and slippers were supplied for both inside and outside the room. The lobby had toothbrushes, face wash, lotion, hairbrushes, coffee, tea, cotton swabs, and more. Citrus-scented face masks were brought out at night. I only wish the face wash and lotion came in bottles in the room instead of small packets. Staff were very friendly, greeted us, and helped with kiosk check-in and checkout. After a day of travel, though, kiosk check-in felt impersonal and inconvenient. It might be quick alone, but handling two rooms for our group of four took about 15 minutes and wasn’t intuitive. We were assigned rooms at opposite ends of the hallway, but at least they were on the same floor. The bathroom is divided into three small spaces: a full room with shower and tub, a separate room with the bidet, and a sink area. The raised sink basin is large, which leaves little counter space on either side. For the lights to work, you need to leave a key card in the slot by the door. Taking it out makes the lights and TV turn off after a few seconds. The bedroom had two full-sized beds pushed together, which I preferred to one bed, a small table with two chairs, and a fridge we used for breakfast items. There wasn’t a closet or drawers, only a rack with six hangers by the entrance, so we mostly lived out of our luggage. Each side of the bed had a small platform for a phone, and the headboard held a few small things like glasses or lotion. We enjoyed our stay.

The team made me feel valued throughout my visit. From the warm greeting at check-in to the attentive help afterward, the service showed real care and professionalism. Every detail contributed to a memorable stay. Thank you for going above and beyond. I’d gladly recommend the hotel to friends and colleagues, and I look forward to coming back.

I’ve stayed here three times in the last quarter, once alone, once with friends, and once as a couple, and I’d happily return. The deluxe double and deluxe twin rooms were spacious by Japanese standards, nicely decorated, and had good lighting. The shower rooms in those room types have nice deep soaking tubs. Beds and pillows are firm but comfortable. Non-deluxe rooms looked a bit too small for my taste unless you’re staying alone. The main room drawback is storage: no drawers, no room under the bed for luggage, and just one short hanging bar that could fit maybe 4-5 items. There’s also only one USB-A and one outlet on each side of the bed, which can make it hard to keep things organized on a longer stay. The location is about two blocks from Kyoto station Hachijo west exit, which has an elevator and escalator, making sightseeing easy. There are two malls and the station within walking distance, so shopping and meals are simple. The area felt surprisingly quiet and safe even after dark. The hotel can get busy, apparently with large student groups. One warning: they won’t keep your luggage overnight if you check out for a night elsewhere and return the next day. They will hold it after checkout and before check-in, but only for that same day. Kiosk check-in and checkout were easy. Amenities are in the lobby, including one of the best bath towels I’ve had at a hotel. Elevators require a key card, and there’s a well-stocked 7-11 in the lobby. Breakfast had a large variety for a decent price. The building has 12 coin-operated washer-dryer units with automatic soap dispensing. They’re usually quiet outside peak times, but clothes often need an extra dryer cycle.

The staff were consistently helpful and professional, and breakfast was nicely laid out with local produce as well as continental options. We had a very good base for exploring the Kansai region, with the station, restaurants, and shopping centers all close by. The accommodations suited my spouse and me well. The restroom and bathing facilities were attractive and exceptionally well maintained. We’d gladly recommend this place.
