The location was perfect, and the house was clean and quite spacious for a Japanese home.

There’s a kitchen and living room as well as three bedrooms, even though the room itself isn’t especially large. It’s decent overall, but the shower’s hot water looked a little cloudy and the bathtub plug didn’t seal properly.

Shops, supermarkets, tofu makers, butcher shops, and suppliers to high-end restaurants are all close by, which makes this a good base for a short, budget-conscious stay with Kyoto vegetables, tofu, and other local specialties. Self-catering is possible. Juichian sits at the foot of Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, and its name, “Juichian” (Eleven Hermitage), refers to the Eleven Arhats. Reached through a narrow alley, it’s a tucked-away traditional Kyoto house. The renovated row house still has its original Goemon-style bath, and similar inns can be found around the neighborhood. There are two Japanese-style bedrooms and one Western-style room, so you can choose what suits you. The pull-cord light switches have a nostalgic feel. It seems to attract many foreign guests, perhaps because the owner is also foreign.

There are four air conditioners, and the house can sleep up to five people. The Goemon bath is a nice feature. It’s between Shimizu Gojo and Gion Shijo, making it very convenient for reaching the main sights. Great place.
