My friend and I, both residents of Japan, arrived together during a group trip to check into our separate rooms. Staff asked me for highly sensitive personal information as a condition of checking in, but didn't ask my friend for the same information. We questioned it and showed them text from the MHLW website explaining that the hotel had no legal basis to demand it from me. The staff still insisted for another half hour. Eventually, one staff member relented because he decided I was a "gentleman" and could be exempted. The conversation was in Japanese, and my friend is a native speaker, so this definitely wasn't a language barrier.

The location is very convenient, with a 24/7 Lawson right across the street. Staff were extremely friendly and spoke great English, and our room was spacious, well equipped, and spotless. Towels and trash bins are replaced daily if you leave them in the hallway, while full room service only starts on the fourth day. At night, though, people on the surrounding streets kept trying to draw us into shady services, including suspicious massages and hostess bars. Someone would approach within seconds of us stepping outside or coming back, which was annoying and uncomfortable. Once, a guy followed me into the lobby after I unlocked the entrance, and I couldn't see any staff at reception then. I would consider staying again, especially with friends, but not for a family trip because of the sketchy nighttime surroundings.
