Kyoto Tokyu Hotel

The rooms are small, but very clean, with a smart TV and an immaculate bathroom. Breakfast was very good, and I’d recommend it. The staff are friendly, and most speak good English. The hotel is nice, though I’m not sure it deserves a five-star label. At £140 a night, it’s definitely worth the money, especially with the great location and handy shuttle bus. My main complaints are the poor mattresses, which really need improving, and the soundproofing, which is weak but still acceptable. The lift beeps constantly, so it could be annoying if your room is right across from it.

I want to thank Amindi, the concierge, and all the hotel staff for their help. We finished our Osaka tour on the 18th and had planned to spend two nights at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel. On the 19th, the second day after leaving Osaka, I realized I had left some belongings at our previous hotel there. I had no idea how to contact them quickly without a local phone number, so I went to the concierge for help. Amindi called the Osaka hotel, arranged for them to deliver the things, and worked out a plan so I could collect them before checkout. When I was out, she left a message in my room to let me know it was all taken care of. That was so touching and thoughtful. Thank you, Amindi, and the other staff too. You can really feel how much patience everyone puts into giving the best service. I highly recommend staying at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel!

Our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We walked from the train station when we arrived, then took the hotel shuttle back there. This is a really nice hotel in Kyoto, and we'd love to stay again.

Breakfast was average at best, and it took four people before anyone understood and helped with a simple luggage issue. The shuttle to Kyoto Station seems to run whenever it feels like it, and staff just suggest taking a taxi. Given the location, getting anywhere means a taxi or public transport. The rooms feel outdated and have a stale smell that the deodorizer spray doesn't fix. As others have said, the hotel controls the air, so rooms stay hot even when the weather is mild. The beds are hard, the pillows are flat, and overall comfort is poor. This place has potential, but it feels like they've stopped caring about the guest experience. I’d definitely spend time reading other people's experiences and looking for another hotel.
