Everything else was good, but the room had no fresh air for all three nights we stayed because the windows wouldn’t open. The walls are thin too, so you can hear people talking outside. That was a big drawback for us.

The room was a bit cramped, with little space to sit or put our luggage. The dryer was disappointing too. We had to run our clothes through three times in smaller loads. The location made getting around easy: it’s in a residential area, a few blocks from bus and subway stops. Nijo castle and a small community park are also a few blocks away, with a grocery store and several good restaurants nearby. The hotel agents were very friendly and helpful.

Of the hotels we stayed at on our trip, this simple, pleasant place was my favorite. It wasn’t fancy, but it had all the usual amenities you’d want.

The laundry was easy to use. It’s coin-operated and costs 800 yen; add your clothes and the machine provides the detergent. About two hours later, everything came out clean and dry. The hotel was the cleanest place I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in.

The beds were really comfortable, the shower was great, and everything was very clean. Good location too. The room is tiny, though, and there wasn’t much space to open two carry-ons. I know space is limited in Japan, but still. They give you two cups and a kettle, but no spoons or plate, which felt cheap. Check-in is at 16:00 and they want you out by 10:00. What service? None.
