The private baths are first come, first served, and you can check their availability on the TV, which made things easy. Dinner was generous and delicious, with fresh local fish. They even packed our leftover rice into onigiri for us to take along the next day. The staff were attentive and incredibly helpful throughout our stay.

The bath has a fantastic ocean view, and it’s made of cypress. The sink is inside the bathing area, though, so you’ll want slippers, which was a small letdown. I also liked the innkeeper’s idea of turning the large shared bath into a family bath. There are only eight rooms, some with their own baths, so I imagine clashes are uncommon. We had the whole communal bath to ourselves, which I never expected. The massage chair kept bonking me on the head because it was a bit faulty, but I suppose that’s part of its charm. Dinner was all about fish, starting with a boat-shaped platter. An older couple ate a surprising amount of sashimi in silence, eyeing the flounder as they went. The sashimi had a firm texture and a deep flavor, not just that pushy “freshness” taste. It seemed to have been blanched and carefully prepared, and before I knew it, only the bones were left. The meal also included a vinegared dish, seared beef, sukiyaki, and, once I was already full, sea bream rice. I thought I couldn’t manage more, but the gentle taste and strong dashi made me want another bite. I’d kept my meals modest after reading other reviews, and that turned out to be the right call. This was the standard course; you need to arrange it the day before if you want something more upscale. Breakfast was just as good. I expected it might be a little light, but my sea bream somen came with half a whole sea bream. You could feel how much this inn cares about fish right through the last meal. I’d been curious about this inn for a while and booked a room with a bathroom. The guest rooms have been renovated, and while the building is old, nothing caused us any trouble. Next time I’d like to take a cruise around Tomonoura on the cruiser I could see from the bath. I’d definitely stay again. Thank you.

The sea view made lunch especially nice. The fish was fresh, and the sashimi was my favorite. I also enjoyed the chawanmushi, octopus rice, and clear soup.

The ocean was right in front of us, and the view was fantastic. Dinner was a huge, irresistible spread for anyone who loves seafood, and the meat was delicious too. The staff were so polite, which made the stay pleasant. I’d love to come back and would recommend it to others. Thank you so much 😭
