The hotel is in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood near other popular parts of Kyoto, though it takes a bit of walking to get to a station. The room was clean and nice, and the service was amazing. They really went out of their way for us. Breakfast and coffee were filling and delicious. The internet was poor in our room, though I think that may have been because our room was in a corner. I'd still highly recommend it.

The location was excellent, in a quiet neighborhood with food options and public transport within walking distance. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent, and breakfast was delicious. If I return to Kyoto, I'll stay here again. One problem was the dryer. I don't know if it's like this throughout the country, but at this hotel and another one where I washed clothes, the dryers didn't get things properly dry. After 90 minutes, my clothes were still very damp, so I had to hang them around the room to air-dry.

The breakfast that came with the stay was simple but hit the spot: tea or coffee, fresh juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt, toast, croissant, or a ham and cheese toastie with dipping sauce. The rooms were a good size, and they upgraded us when they noticed our luggage might be a tight fit in the room we'd booked. The staff went out of their way to make the stay fantastic, and the location was very convenient. The hotel's industrial, warehouse-like design has a Japanese feel. It was great value for money, enough to make you think the nightly rate might be twice as high.

Minato gave us personal attention, and the owners did everything they could to make us comfortable. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed, nice sheets, good toiletries, and Shiseido bath products. The location is great, within walking distance of Gion and Kyoto station and right in downtown Kyoto, close to cafes and restaurants. Highly recommend it.
