Really helpful, lovely hosts, and there are some very good little restaurants nearby. The neighborhood is quiet too. A great place to stay!

This was a great base for a longer stay in Kyoto. The house is close to the subway and buses, and there are bikes to use. We liked having a Western bedroom upstairs and a tatami room that could be set up as a lounge or Japanese-style bedroom. Downstairs there’s a kitchen, lounge, and bathroom, with room for a small group across the two floors. There’s plenty of practical help around the house, from TV and washing machine instructions to bike road rules. On arrival we were given lots of useful information about shopping, food, and getting around. We even had things to do indoors when a typhoon left us stuck, including origami books and a Nintendo switch.

It’s a renovated old house that works well for a small family vacation. The city-center location makes getting around easy, and everyday facilities are close by. We found it a pretty good place to stay for an independent trip to Kyoto.
