A convenient place for a group to stay, and the owner speaks good English. The lodging was very cheap.

Comfortable and inexpensive for a group.

The price is the biggest draw. During spring break on a weekend, it was only ¥2,000 per person per night, which is an unbelievable deal. I searched across Kyoto and this was the cheapest place I found. If you’re after a budget stay, I highly recommend it. There are supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants nearby that stay open late and open early, and the restrooms are clean. Parking takes some looking: nearby coin lots have maximum rates that end at 8 PM or 8 AM, but I found one about 200 meters away with a ¥500 maximum for 24 hours. The room has plenty of drawbacks. The shower room is dirty, so you’d be better off using a nearby public bath. There are almost no amenities, and the toothpaste and hair iron are filthy, though the hair dryer is usable. The room is a little dim and damp. The bunk beds wobble, the futons are hard, and the walls are thin enough that you can’t really talk loudly or chat at night. The doors bang loudly when opening and closing, so be careful. Wi-Fi is probably residential and slow. The stairs are steeper than Himeji Castle. You can also see the ceiling pipes, and sometimes hear sewage running.

This is budget lodging, and the room was very cheap, around 9000 yen, which was good. The air conditioning was inconvenient, though, too strong in some areas and weak in others. There are coin parking lots nearby, but their maximum rates only run until 8 PM or 8 AM. I found one about 200 meters away that charged a 500 yen maximum for 24 hours. I went outside to smoke and was disgusted by how many mosquitoes there were. Anyway, thank you.
