The room was bright and comfortable, and Kyoto is such a beautiful city to explore on foot. I loved staying here and highly recommend it.

After being on the go all day, it was such a peaceful place to return to. Everything felt just right, and I'd recommend it whether you're traveling alone or as a couple.

There are lots of places around Gion within a 5-10 minute walk. The walls are thin, so I get why people mention noise, but the hostel supplies earplugs and a fresh fragrance for the stay. I'm a very light sleeper and still slept through every night with the earplugs in.

The location is the one good thing I can say about it. My room had almost no ventilation and smelled strongly of smoke as soon as I stepped inside. The promotional pictures show an air purifier, but there wasn't one in the room. I contacted staff right away and got no support, so I can't recommend staying here.

The area is close to some great Kyoto spots, but my friend and I didn't have a good stay. The place is poorly ventilated, and all sorts of smells get around. If odors don't bother you, the location might work for you.
