The price was very, very cheap, and the mostly self-service setup was fine. My daily experience was around 8/10, with scores of 7 and 8 on the two days. The bathroom lock was easy to reach and use, and the bath water temperature was simple to adjust, though the lock sometimes failed and needed an easy fix. The room was comfortable enough but cramped, with almost nothing inside and no view. The lobby had room to sit and do laundry, but there wasn't much else, and getting to it wasn't easy. Other useful bits were a charging port, lots of seats, and free water. The room decor was modest and the atmosphere only faintly there. The door keypad was awkward, but the bathroom itself was spacious enough. My final score was 59/100.

The room was a welcome place to come back to after days of nearly 20,000 steps. It was clean, with a touch of class, and felt homey. There’s a small supermarket across the street and a konbini just beyond the crosswalk. We stayed four days, and the place worked really well whether you’re new to Kyoto or have visited before. It sits between Kyoto station, Higashiyama district, and downtown, all close enough to walk to. Check-in was smooth: the professional agents spoke fluent English and offered either a ride to the hotel or luggage drop-off.

I liked the stay and thought the price and space were good, plus the washer and dryer were appreciated. Just be ready for a somewhat awkward check-in at Kyoto station, about 30 minutes away. If you don't have the patience for that, I wouldn't recommend it. Seems better suited to a longer visit.

Aside from check-in, I came away positive. The room was clean, very good, and had everything I expected. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Kyoto station. The catch is that check-in happens at their office near the station, and it took me 45 minutes. First there was a wait, around 20 minutes before I could even begin, depending on how many people were ahead. Paying the tourist tax was no problem, but the rest dragged on for ages. I've used self check-in at many hotels and it usually takes two minutes. What a waste of time.
