Rest inn Kyoto

The room was comfortable and spacious, with everything I needed right there. Most things are within walking distance, and for the tourist spots you can walk or take a bus from two streets over. I'd definitely recommend staying here in Kyoto.

After spending four days in a cage in Tokyo, this apartment felt like a gift. Self-check-in went smoothly, there were no problems, and we had lots of space for luggage.

The owner entered our room without permission while we were undressed and in bed. Be careful booking here: he used his key to come in. When we arrived, nobody was there, which seems common in Kyoto, and we let ourselves into the room. I had an important work call and needed Wi-Fi, but it wasn't working. I phoned twice for help and nothing fixed it, then contacted booking.com and went to bed. Later there was banging at the door about the Wi-Fi. I called out that I was already in bed and it was too late, but the owner let himself in anyway. We had to ask him to leave and tell him we were undressed. We left and got our money back because we didn't feel safe. In seven months of travel, we'd never had anything like this happen. Such a shame.

A lovely little apartment-style room with a large bathroom, Japanese-style shower and bath, and a washing machine. Detergent and bath powder were available downstairs from a gacha machine for ¥100. There are communal rental scooters out front, and with the app it costs less than ¥400 to reach most nearby attractions.
