I couldn’t sleep on the beds, which felt like stone. When I asked whether they had a futon or mattress topper, the staff were no help and said they didn’t offer that. A decent bed is basic, and they didn’t provide one. The room smelled bad, the carpet was filthy, and I could hear every step from the neighbours through the thin walls. There was nobody at reception to help, just a tablet that offered no real support. It felt like a noisy box with a duvet on the floor instead of proper beds. Never stay here.

Nightmare. Worst hotel we stayed at in Japan. The mattress was only about 2 cm thick, so it was basically like lying on hard wood. The carpet was dirty, it smelled disgusting, and the staff were awful and unhelpful. We could hear every noise throughout the hotel.

The rooms are large and clean, and I really appreciated having a private bathroom after staying in other Japanese hotels with shared ones. The service was excellent, too. My only complaints were that the washing machine didn’t work as expected and the location is a bit out of the way. Take a bus to Kyoto Station, though, and you can get around quickly. Overall, I had a great stay.

The beds were very hard, and the place is far from the centre. They advertise free parking, but when we arrived they said it was full and charged us for our parking. If they can’t provide parking for every guest, they shouldn’t advertise it as available. They didn’t seem to care and offered no solution.

If you’re happy to stay in a Kyoto suburb and experience local life, this place could suit you. Getting there by public transport takes some effort, though, and it’s far from the city. The room itself was clean and spacious.
