Sanjusangendo Yoitsubaki

We spent five nights here and found it clean and peaceful, in a quiet neighborhood. The bus stop is just around the corner, and temples and Kyoto Station are about a 30-minute walk away. The staff were kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. We liked the Machiya style, especially paired with the modern bathroom technology and appliances.

A cozy, warm Japanese-style house. The rooms were clean, and even the water was warm. We loved it.

The courtyard was lovely to look at from the bath, and sitting on the veranda afterward in the evening breeze was a real pleasure. Inside, the house was spotless, with a design that mixed Japanese and Western styles in a way I really liked. The air conditioner and lights were already on when I arrived, which made things comfortable right away and showed a thoughtful touch. I'd definitely stay here again if I get back to Kyoto.

We were able to properly unwind during our two-night stay, so I'd especially suggest it for a longer visit. The amenities and fixtures all seemed carefully chosen, and the place was clean. Opening the bathroom window gave it a semi-open-air-bath feel, which I enjoyed. I also liked chatting on the benches in the front garden and having a drink in the evening breeze. The phone service and check-in staff were both very courteous and appealing.
