Shiki Shiki

This place feels very Kyoto, and it's been newly renovated. I enjoyed the garden. There was an issue with my booking name for some unknown reason. It can be hard to reach someone since nobody is there around the clock, though email replies and back-and-forth were pretty quick.

I emailed to report that I'd left my watch behind and never heard back. I wish they'd at least replied. It was disappointing.

The cypress bath smelled wonderful, and I liked being able to open the windows for a bit more comfort. Its unusual layout also gave me a view of the Japanese garden while relaxing. This traditional-style inn is peaceful despite being conveniently placed. I'd like to stay here on future trips to Kyoto.

The converted storehouse has a distinctive, well-furnished feel, and both the bathroom and shower room were nicely done. The shower pressure is weak, as others have said, but I could put up with it. The TV only has Netflix, so for regular shows or news you'd need something like a tablet. At checkout, the cash payment itself was fine, but the amount they charged was several times higher than it should have been. I spotted it and called the contact number. The man who answered didn't apologize, and his reaction made me feel he wasn't taking customer service seriously. The facilities are unusual and well equipped, but the service was terrible.
