The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji

The hotel felt like good value, and I’d definitely stay again when I’m back in Kyoto. It’s close to Umekoji Park, Kyoto Aquarium and other sightseeing spots, and the area was quiet but convenient. JR Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station is only a short walk away, which made getting around easy. Check-in went smoothly. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout, and the room was clean, modern and well organized. The bed was comfortable, Wi-Fi worked well, and both the cleanliness and service were excellent.

We still miss this hotel and would consider coming back to Kyoto just to stay here again. We chose it for the good room price and fairly central location, and it was a welcome change after the small rooms at other hotels. Our room was so spacious and comfortable, with a king bed, bright lighting, plenty of air conditioning, a large bathroom with an adjustable shower and bathtub, and room to put our luggage wherever we wanted. The toilet wasn’t right beside the door, either. Welcome drinks were waiting in the fridge, with complimentary water on the table. Check-in was seamless. Reception identified the luggage we’d shipped from Tokyo, handed over our room cards, and explained the amenities and onsen rules and hours. Everyone was very friendly. Each day after we’d been out exploring, the bed was made and fresh towels and pajamas were provided. We used the large marble-tiled onsen in the morning and evening. It was surprisingly quiet when we went, even though the hotel seemed busy during the day. There’s a banquet hall on the main floor serving meals throughout the day, which looked like good quality, though we ate elsewhere. A FamilyMart is attached beside the entrance, with an inside door to reach it. We grabbed things there every day. Apart from Madoka No Mori in Hakone, our favorite traditional ryokan, this was the best hotel my fiancée and I stayed at during our Japan vacation.

There’s a park right in front where kids can play and you can enjoy the Kyoto atmosphere, and on weekends we saw plenty of food trucks nearby. The hotel is modern, with complete facilities and excellent, friendly, helpful service. A convenience store is on the ground floor. It’s near the station, just one stop from Kyoto Station. I’d happily stay here again next time I’m in Kyoto. Arigatou!🙏🏻

The beds were really comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and the staff were helpful. The location is great by the park, about a 20-minute walk from Kyoto Station. I really have no complaints about this hotel.
