TUNE STAY Kyoto

The quiet street made it easy to sleep, even though Kyoto Station is only about 10 minutes away, as is Kyoto tower. A Family Mart sits on the corner, with a few restaurants and izakayas along the same street, but things are mostly calm at night. I much preferred that to the busy streets. I was traveling alone, and my small single room was cozy. Downstairs there's a shared kitchen and library, with lots of books and manga, mostly in Japanese, to read or buy. During my stay they had a snow globe exhibition, and I got to admire the collection. A lovely hotel for a short solo trip to Kyoto.

We had a really pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfy, and its small size was about what we expected. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a limited choice, but we enjoyed it anyway. Getting around was easy, with bus, train, and metro stops close by and Nidec Kyoto Tower nearby. Several convenience stores, including 7-Eleven and Family Mart, are a short walk away, and the coin laundry room came in handy.

We had a great room, thoughtfully designed so there was room for our bags and suitcases despite the small footprint. We left our luggage before check-in and went out to see the city. At check-in, the welcome drinks were a lovely surprise. The reception area is beautiful, and you can order cocktails and relax there. I would happily stay at this hotel again.

The shared kitchen and dining area were great, and the gin bar was a treat. I enjoyed trying Japanese gins, especially with the happy hour deal. The staff were kind and incredibly helpful, and their English was so good that it surprised me, even though I'd prepared to speak Japanese. The rooms are small, as expected, but very clean and have plenty of storage. The bed is firm, just how I like it, and extra towels and pillows are available. I booked the private bath, which felt wonderful after a long day of walking. Very glad we stayed here 👍 ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )
