We really enjoyed our three nights at Machiya Inn. The staff were friendly, and they collected the trash and replaced used towels with clean ones each day. Having the conveniences of a house was handy, and the place had a lot of charm, from the little garden to the wooden floors.

The location may suit some groups better than others. There's no easy subway access, only nearby bus routes, though taxis can bridge the gap if that's comfortable for you. We had 12 people spread comfortably across two machiya, and with enough planning, a larger party could reserve more houses. The houses were surprisingly well insulated for sound, though we still kept our volume down in the residential area. Staff were kind and professional, and helped generously with logistics and amenities. We had no issues with towels, bedding, trash, cookware, or cleanliness. I'd readily book again and strongly recommend it.
