Ocean Hotel Iwato

A basic hotel with a nice sea view. I was disappointed by the cleanliness, which is unusual in Japan.

The view is the highlight. Apparently every room faces the ocean, and the scenery was fantastic. The hot spring also really warms you through. You can feel the building's age, but at this price I found it acceptable. I booked on the day and stayed without meals, though I might include food next time. The lowest prices across the booking sites were 5,200-7,400 yen for a room without meals, and even a night with two meals costs under 10,000 yen, so it's easy on the wallet. I stayed here about five years ago and would like to come back.

It's right by the sea, so you hear the waves when you fall asleep and when you wake up, for better or worse. The facilities are fairly old, but they've been renovated and are beautiful.

I stayed here while traveling with the Seishun 18 Ticket. It was around a 30-minute walk from Shibushi Station, I think. The room looked out over the ocean, with the East China Sea right there in front of you. I also enjoyed the hot spring. I stayed without meals, and the nearby FamilyMart came in handy. If you're doing the same, it's easier to stop there before going to the inn. Next time, I'd like to stay with meals included. Thank you.
