The hotel is lovely, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights while visiting the Adachi Museum and Garden. I’d left a backpack behind in Kyoto, and the staff arranged to have it sent to our next hotel, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was amazing, honestly the highlight of the food we had in Matsue. The enormous onsen was scrupulously clean and a good temperature, 43C. There’s an indoor and an outdoor pool, a sauna, a plunge pool, and two hot tubs, so there’s plenty to choose from. The beds are comfortable, though ask for a soft pillow because the ones on the bed are quite hard. Our only complaint was the difficulty getting a taxi. The staff called, but kept being told the taxis were booked out, even a day in advance, and then recommended the bus. I’m not sure what was going on, but getting a taxi is a pretty basic service for a hotel to provide. We only got one to the station when we left after digging in our heels and saying we wouldn’t take the bus with our luggage. It was unpleasant and entirely unnecessary. Otherwise, excellent.
