The food was a real draw for me. Dinner had a huge range, including steak, hot pot, sashimi, and eel, and it was all delicious. For a little over 10,000 yen, I was surprised by how much was served. If you're okay with sparse facilities, the price and meals make it a place I can recommend. The inn is old and has a slight smell. Rooms have no toilet or bath, though there are quite a few toilets around. The milky sulfur hot spring seemed to have good water quality, but its facilities are old-fashioned. The chemical testing record on the changing-room wall goes back to 1972, so the inn must have been there since then. Its reputation seems to vary a lot depending on the person, so it's worth reading reviews to decide if it'll suit you.

The owner was quiet but very nice, and the food was delicious. There's only one shower in the hot spring, so it's probably worth choosing when to go. Lots of insects fly around at night, so if bugs aren't your thing, you may prefer going while it's still light out.

There isn't a juice vending machine in the building, or even bottled juice. I asked about sandals for outside and was told previous guests had worn them all. I came expecting a summer retreat, but the second-floor rooms were incredibly hot. Opening the windows at night let in tons of insects. Dr. Fabre would have been thrilled! Best to buy snacks and juice before arriving.

The building is old enough that I worried the hot spring roof might collapse. The owner handled the situation with great care, though. Thank you very much.

There was plenty of delicious food, and I was very satisfied with the generous portions. The facilities are quite old and worn, but the rooms themselves are normal. I think it should suit men who aren't too fussy about where they stay.
