We arrived at poetical late in the day without warning, and the lovely owner still managed to make us a vegan meal and three pescatarian meals. Honestly, it was the best food we ate during our month in Japan. Everyone was so lovely and spoke good English, and the building felt romantic. The sulfur onsen was a wonderful surprise and became the highlight of our trip. Thanks to the whole family for having us. We hope to see you again someday.

Our first guesthouse canceled the day before our booking, so we had to find somewhere else in a hurry. We were pleasantly surprised by this family-run hotel. The owners were very kind and let us have dinner at their restaurant at short notice. The rooms are simple and cover the basics, but the two indoor/outdoor private onsen were the best part. Dinner was fantastic, with homemade steamed fish, duck, and dessert, and we ordered hot sake too. We had to leave early for Mt Norikura and couldn't eat breakfast at the restaurant, so the owners kindly packed Onigiri for us. I'd definitely stay here again.

The outdoor onsen was amazing, and the Japanese-style breakfast was good. The owners were so nice too. One of the best pensions we stayed at on our trip.

The winding road up here was a little scary, but the place itself was comfortable for a family or friends. The food and service were good, and I especially liked the private onsen. Outside, there's a nice view and fresh air. It's in Norikura, at 2,800 meters, the highest place in Japan.

The onsen made for a relaxing stay, and the food was great. Such a beautiful place, with a lovely atmosphere.
