The room has an old-style music turntable, and you can borrow old LPs from the first-floor lounge to listen to in your room. There’s also an onsen on the first floor. A breakfast buffet is available for an extra charge, and they provide a yukata and Japanese wooden shoes, maybe geta.
Having a working record player in every room gives the place a retro feel I really liked. It made for a great stay and experience.
The shared lounge was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very kind and polite. I stayed four nights for work. Most of the other guests seemed to be there for Dogo onsen, but it was still a convenient place to work. As a vegetarian, I found plenty of breakfast options.
The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the castle, which I’d highly recommend visiting. There’s also a shopping street a couple of blocks away if that’s your thing. I was here on a cycling tour of Shikoku. The rooms are small, so you may want to spend more time in the very nice lobby. The record player is a cool idea, but there’s only a tiny stool to sit on. Breakfasts were good, and the French toast was lovely. If you prefer your eggs more cooked, the staff can heat them up further for you.
The public bath was clean and cozy, and it’s a natural hot spring. The modern room was good, too. Service was good, although they could have started check-in earlier, since many guests were already waiting before 15:00. Breakfast was just OK for both quantity and quality, including the presentation. It’s a five-minute walk from the train and bus station.
