This place was an unexpected find. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly.

We were six family members, staying in two rooms over a weekend in March 2026. The inn is quite far from the highway interchange, in a town that still has the feel of the old Showa era, unlike the more commercialized East Izu area. It’s a family-run place, and they’ll try to accommodate requests, so it suits anyone after a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The rooms and facilities were clean and well maintained, though their age was obvious. For the price, they felt a little underwhelming. We had a bunk-bed room and a twin room. The bunk-bed room was spacious, with enough space for all six of us to gather, play cards, and chat. Dinner, breakfast, and the hot springs all left us very satisfied. The grilled live abalone is a specialty, and it was tender and delicious. The beef stew felt a bit heavy for the older guests, so we shared it with the children. Since we booked online, the complimentary drink was a nice bonus. Breakfast had the feel of a traditional Japanese inn meal. There are men’s and women’s baths, a family bath, and two private open-air baths. They seem to be made with Izu stone. The private outdoor baths are first come, first served, but you can use them at the time you prefer.

The building and rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was even self-service coffee. Staff were very kind. I especially enjoyed the dinner: the grilled abalone was delicious, and so were the less traditional inn dishes, including beef stew tender enough to cut with chopsticks and a salmon and Shine Muscat salad. Guests can also tour a historic storehouse built into the inn. I’d highly recommend the place to anyone who loves history.

This is a family-run inn and a good option if you’re looking for a place to stay in the area. There’s a separate open-air bath. The owner makes and displays things related to "Yuru Camp" (a Japanese anime/manga series), so fans may find it especially interesting.

The inn is very quiet, with two private open-air baths, and the food is delicious. The friendly owner knows a lot about history and geology. Apparently, he named a shell fossil he found nearby after himself. They seem to have moved the storehouse near the front desk, too. If you want to experience the historical and cultural geopark, this is my top recommendation on the Izu Peninsula. It’s also well placed for walking along the streets with sea cucumber walls.
