Yatsugatake Kogen Lodge

I had a really enjoyable short stay at this rather fancy hotel in the Yatsugatake highlands. The room looked great, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was huge. Breakfast was delicious too.

The music hall had a warm, homey feel, with good sound and a great view. Still, the total seemed pretty expensive, even with the concert ticket included, so next time I’d come when there isn’t an event. We stayed one night in early January because my wife’s favorite band was playing, and the room itself was comfortable. It was quiet overnight, and the bathroom and toilet had been renovated. Everything we needed was there, and the staff outside the restaurant were friendly and welcoming. We could hear the TV and people talking in the next room, though, perhaps because the building is old. At Restaurant Hanagoyomi, dinner was presented as a special menu for concertgoers, but no one explained what made it special. It came across as a standard French course. The staff couldn’t tell us much about either the food or the wine, though maybe that was just the team serving us. Breakfast coffee could use some improvement too.
