Kominka yado LOOF Sho no ie

We spent Golden Week here as a family of three with our two toy poodles, and would love to return in the middle of winter. The old house had so much charm, from the first-floor earthen floor and open atrium to the comfortable beds upstairs. Looking down from the third floor really shows off the beauty of the building. We expected some inconvenience in an old house, but everything inside was very clean, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the toilet and bathroom were clean too. The amenities were excellent and the stay was comfortable. It had a different charm from a luxury hotel, and we enjoyed it even more. Meals, including grilled dishes cooked over a hearth, were delicious. Wandering around the neighborhood and taking in the peaceful rural scenery was a lovely memory. Thank you to everyone at Ruufu for a wonderful time.

Mornings here brought to mind the world of “Spring is the Dawn” from The Pillow Book, and in the evening we could watch the constellations by a bonfire. This renovated old house fits right into the quiet valley village of Nakayama. There’s a lot to love in the building itself, including the dirt floor, hearth, veranda, and large cypress bath, which seems to have been made from a converted storehouse. Dogs are welcome, and the kind staff were lovely with them. Meals are cooked over the hearth using locally produced ingredients. It’s an easy place to forget your busy schedule and spend some peaceful time.

The old house was beautiful, the service was good, and the food was delicious. The staff were wonderful, and I felt so comfortable I wanted to stay forever. I’d like to come back. Thank you.

We came for a day trip on a rainy day, and it turned out to be the most luxurious rainy outing I’ve ever had. The mountain views and sound of the rain were lovely. The non-slip floor worked well for our dog, and with no partitions, there was lots of space for him to roam and explore. The bathroom has been made from a storehouse, and the cypress scent was relaxing. Dogs can’t go on the tatami mats in the second-floor bedroom, but they’re allowed on the beds with flooring, so that was fine. The stairs up to the second and third floors are steep in this old house, so it felt safest to carry my dog. The staff were very polite, and even though my dog is quite shy, he warmed to them. We’ll definitely be back!
